Information associated with a digital object is called
properties
. This information can be considered from various viewpoints, including the type of information, who creates it and where it is stored.
Types.
There are many types of properties including: bibliographic information (content), technical (formats, schemas, protocols), rights (ownership, terms and conditions), administrative, etc.
Creation.
Properties can be created by the originator of the object, an administrator, third party, etc.
Storage.
Properties are stored in many places, including: properties records, meta-objects, separate digital objects, information retrieval servers, external indexes, etc.
