The Handle System has been developed by CNRI as part of the Computer Science Technical Reports project. A handle is a unique identifier for a digital object. This object can be stored in a digital library repository, in an ftp archive, in a World Wide Web server, or any other digital store. Handles can also be used for other forms of identification, such as electronic mail addresses.
To use items identified by handles with the World Wide Web requires a browser that supports handles. Here is the current list of browsers.
For each issue, handles have been given to the major items in D-Lib Magazine. The contents page is linked to these items by handles, rather than conventional URLs.
If your browser supports handles, here is D-Lib Magazine with handles.
